Gray Oxidized

To achieve a dark gray finish on sterling silver, we rapidly oxidize the ring in a sulfur solution to a solid, uniform gray finish. Sterling silver will oxidize on it's own whenever it is exposed to anything containing silver however when it oxidized naturally, the effect is not uniform around the entire ring. Oxidation will wear off just like any type of plating does however unlike plating, oxidation can be reapplied without the need to go to a jeweler simply by exposing the metal to anything containing sulfur. The simplest method for which there are numerous videos about online is to use a boiled egg.
